David Hendin, well known Biblical coin expert,  donates to ACE teachers.

ACE wishes to express our thanks and appreciation to David Hendin, the renowned Biblical coins expert, who has graciously recently donated to ACE a quantity of the coins traditionally associated with the story of the Poor Widow's Mites. (Mark 12: 41-44) These are AE leptons from the time of Alexander Jannaeus.  Being very crude and tiny, we decided to distribute them in pairs, both to emulate the story which speaks of the widow giving her last two mites and to try to ensure that some features of the coins are discernable between the two specimens.  They are packaged with full documentation which explains both their numismatic significance and their potential relationship to the Biblical story.  So far, the response has been enthusiastic as we have made sets of these coins available to teachers in the ACE program who wish to have them on hand for use as an exhibit in either classroom or school-based museums.
