Through the Ancient World with Coins
"Through the Ancient World with Coins" was the last ACE contest
for the academic year 2011-2012. Our first place winner in the Senior
category, a keen student from Baltimore, scored 120 out of 124 points,
which is an "amazing feat", since the contest covered a period from
Lydia and the Achmaenids 600 years BCE to the Fall of Constantinople
in 1453 AD!! ....see the contest HERE
Our Junior first prize also astounded us with a score of 113... a truly gifted
entry from the DC Metro area. The 2nd prize winners were close
contenders from New York state and California respectively.
Congratulations to the Finals winners and all the school winners,
from across the country, who received an identified bronze ancient coin
each. We hope that our teachers and students enjoyed it - not only as a
means to win their identified ancient coin prizes, but as a brief run through
the world of the " Ancient Past".
Five of our ACE Teachers also won special prizes this year -
from NH, KY, CA, MD and VA - we are so lucky to work
with such creative teachers."
